Lyme Disease  and other Tick borne infections In Oregon

Oregon Lyme Disease Network will work to provide people and local physicians with current research data on tick borne illnesses, their classical presentation, variant presentation, current testing procedures available and resource for testing, and treatment protocols recommended by the International Lyme and Associated Disease Society, Lyme Disease Association and Lyme Disease Foundation.  We network with these parent Lyme Disease association to provide the most complete, up to date information for advocacy for the patient.

According to many Oregon Doctors, lyme does not exist in Oregon. However according to the CDC (Center of Disease Control) and the NIH (National Institute of Health) Oregon is "endemic" with Lyme Disease. *I. pacificus ticks are found in certain western states, although I. pacificus ticks infected with B. burgdorferi have been confirmed by isolation from ticks only in California and Oregon where infection rates range from 4% to 13.6% (41,42)

...**Cases of Lyme disease are reported through a combination of passive, active, and laboratory-based surveillance. Lyme disease reporting was enhanced through laboratory-based or active surveillance programs for at least a certain portion of Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Oregon’s Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is administered by the Oregon Medical Assistance Program (OMAP), and offers the same benefits package and choice of carriers and providers as Oregon Health Plan (OHP)/Medicaid. The program, created and financed primarily by the federal government, has two major differences from the OHP/Medicaid program it’s modeled after: children must be uninsured for 6 months (with some exceptions), and it is not an entitlement program and may have a capped enrollment.

There are no monthly premiums, co-payments, or deductibles in this program which is for Oregon children, up to 19 who have a household income of 170% of Federal Poverty Level, and who are not eligible for OHP/Medicaid.
